Abstract
|
|
|
In 55 cases histopathologically proven lung cancer in Seoul Natio.aal University Hospital during the
period from 1969 to 1972, the bronclioscopic findings of lung cancer were analyzed
The following results were obtained;
1. Analysis on the age incidence of the 55 cases showed that 90. 9% (50 cases) were over 40 years of age and sex ratio was 5.1 : 1, showing remarkable preponderance in male.
2. The duration of clinical symptoms prior to the first examination at the hospital was 80% in the 6 months and the most chief complaint on the inital visit was coughing in 45.5%.
3. Histopathological finding revealed that squamous cell carcinoma was ¢¥noted in 45. 5
4. Bronchoscopic diagnosis showed 70. 2% accuracy when combined procedures of gross inspection, Pap. smear and biopsy have carried out.
The most frequent finding was bronchial obstruction due to mass in 46. 5%.
5. The overall diagnostic accuracy of bronchography was 88%.
